Method 1: SMS Spam
The stock messaging app on Android does not have the spam SMS blocking feature but plenty of apps are available in the Google Play store which helps you in this case. But if you are using Hangout as your default messaging app then the entire process to block spam SMS is described here.
- First, download and install the Hangout app on your Android device.
- Next set it as default by going to settings>More>Default SMS and Choose Hangout to set it as default.
- Now, you need to create a blacklist. To do so, Launch the Hangout app and select any unwanted message.
- Now, tap on the three dot menu icons at the top right corner. Select ‘People and Options’.
- Tap ‘Block number’ and that number will be blocked. So you will not receive any SMS from that particular number.
- You can, later on, unblock the number if required following the same method.
However, if you do not wish to set Hangout as the default messaging app, you can always make use of third party apps to block the Spam SMS. Some of them are here.

Method 2: Advertise Spam
Whether it is standard ads or else the pop-up ads, both are too much irritating as they start playing immediately and interrupt us in the mid of work. They are present in most of the browser, so you are supposed to face them irrespective of which browser you are using. Anyways, there are always ways to get rid of them on your Android device and we will explain all the possible ways for that.
Install the ad block browser: If there is no restriction on the type of browser you use then we suggest switching the current browser. Ad-block browser is available in the play store for free. So, why not get it to get rid of the pop-up and standard ads.

Block the ads in Chrome: Are you using Chrome and not wishing to switch to any other browser? Well, then you can go ahead to block the pop-up ads here from the settings menu. Here is how to do that.
- Launch the browser first.
- Next tap on the three dot icon at the top right corner and tap on settings.
- Then go to Site settings and scroll down to get the pop-up option.
- Here swipe the slider to the block option and that’s it.
Turn on Data saver: This step too is for all those who are willing to stick to the Chrome browser. While this feature is turned on, it will compress the web page by limiting some of its aspects such as animation, unnecessary ads, etc. So, this will automatically stop the ads from loading while you can also enjoy the saved data somewhere else. Method 3: Email Spam
There are ways to avoid or get rid of email spam on your Android device. Email spam makes the inbox filled up easily, as a result, you are required to delete the important email sometimes. So, it is best to block the spam email beforehand and enjoy the emailing on Android. Here is how to get rid of the Email spam on Android.
There are mainly two ways, you can either unsubscribe the spam email or else block them. However, this will depend on the type of spam mail.
Unsubscribe the spam mail: When you receive an email from a legitimate company it accompanies an unsubscribe link. The link will be present definitely with the email. You can tap on that link and it will open a browser. There you need to confirm that you are unsubscribed.
Block the spam email on Android: In case you are frequently receiving an email from a company even though you have clicked that unsubscribed button, then go for blocking the spam email. This can be done in the following ways. Select the spam mail and then tap on the three dots icon at the top of the Gmail. Next, select the option ‘report as spam’ and then all the emails from that company will reach to spam. They will get deleted then automatically after 30 days.
