Solution No.1: Make sure the software is up to date

Start with the software. The software updates are significant as each new version comes with the improvements and bug fixes. If you keep the software up to date you will get the most out of your device. So, before you move to the other solutions, go to Settings > System Updates > Device software > Check for updates. If there is an update available, just follow the on-screen steps to download and install the latest software version.

Solution No.2: App-related problem

In many cases, the misbehaving app was causing the problem. If you noticed that your phone reboots when you are using a specific app, first try to clear its cache and data. Go to Settings, tap on App Manager, find the app, tap on it and click on Clear Cache and Clear Data. If that doesn’t help, make sure the app is up to date. The next thing you can try is to remove the app from your smartphone completely.

Solution No.3: Clear cache for all the apps

To clear cache for all the apps you have on your device, go to Settings > Storage and then tap Cached Data. Hopefully, this will help you to get rid of the problem. If not, there are a few more things you can try.

Solution No.4: Remove your SD card

This may work: turn off your LG G4, remove its battery and then remove the SD card. Place the battery back in and turn on your smartphone. See if it is working properly. If it does, get a new SD card.

Solution No.5: Factory data reset

If you tried the solutions listed above, but still experiencing the problem, perhaps it is time for a fresh start. If you have never performed factory data reset before, you need to understand that will your files, apps settings, third-party apps, and your personal settings will be wiped out from your device, which will be restored to its initial state. That is why the first thing you need to do is to backup your data. Then, do the following:

  • Navigate to Apps
  • Tap Settings Next
  • Tap Personal > Backup and Reset, and check the boxes located next to Back Up My Data and Automatic Restore
  • Tap Factory Data Reset
  • The warning message will appear
  • If you don’t want data to be erased from your SD card, uncheck the option “Erase SD card”
  • Tap Reset Phone > Next > Delete All and click Ok.

Hopefully, one of the above-mentioned solutions will fix the problem. However, if that doesn’t happen, visit the store or your carrier, explain what the problem is and ask for a replacement device.
