How to make your number private

There are several ways to make your number private on both, Android and iPhone.

The simplest option you have, which is also the best one if you want to hide your ID for individual calls only, is to add a prefix before the number you are about to call. In the US the prefix is *67, but if you live in some other country, the prefix will be different. So, to make your number private for individual calls, just add the prefix, then the number, and you are good to go.

Another option is to ask your carrier to make your number private. Simply contact your carrier and ask if the option is possible.

Finally, you can make your number private using the settings on your Android or iPhone.

For Android devices:

  • Open the Phone app
  • Click on three dots in the top-right corner of the screen
  • Click Settings
  • Now, you need to find the Caller ID option. It can be under “Calls” or under “More”, depending on the model of the phone you are using
  • Once you find the Caller ID, turn it off.

For iPhones:

  • Open the Settings app
  • Now tap Phone
  • Tap on Show My Caller ID
  • Tap on the switch to turn it off.
