iOS 6

iOS 6 is the 6th significant release by the iOS operating system for smartphones. This is developed by Apple Inc. This is the successor to its previous version of iOS 5. The introduction of this new version of the operating system for mobile phones by Apple came with a purpose to power the iPhone latest models as well as iPad touch and iPad. With the new version of the iOS 6, the users observed several new features that offered them the ease of use and accessing various technological advents.

Apple released as many as ten versions of the iOS 6 operating system before giving in to iPhone 7 in 2013. Some of the key features that were released with the launch of iOS 6 OS were:

  • Apple Maps app that replaced the primitive Google Maps installed into the older versions of iPhone
  • Support for turn-by-turn directions in Apple Maps
  • Do Not Disturb feature
  • Passbook
  • Expanded Siri features & functions
  • FaceTime over cellular networks
  • Facebook Integration
  • Improved privacy controls
  • Offline reading list in Safari
