Force Touch

Force Touch technology has been used in Apple Watch and some newest MacBook series. The Haptic feedback on it, comes with a unique tactile sensation when we are using it. In Apple Watch, the Force Touch is used to display an extra control to accommodate the small display. While in MacBook, the Force Touch allows you to access the certain menu with ease, such as checking a word definition in the dictionary (which previously using the 3 finger gesture), rename folder/file, and more. Here we can see, how Apple implemented the same technology in a different device. They have thought about the ergonomic use.

Now, the question is, how Apple implements the Force Touch technology in the iPhone? I mean,

iPhone is commonly held by one hand, while Apple Watch or the new MacBook is steady in our wrist or on our desk.

A few days ago, 9to5mac wrote about, how the Force Touch can work out on the iPhone. The iOS Force Touch technology is known by the code name “Orb.” Rather than opening up new full-screen windows to display extra controls, Force Touch on the iPhone is said to skip existing lists of options or presses.

“There is a consistent usage of Force Touch across the operating system to ‘shortcut’ actions,” rather than present new options like with the Apple Watch, according to a source.

Three of the Force Touch implementations in Safari are like these:

  • Force touching a link will bring up a preview of that webpage.
  • Force touch on an address or contact brings up a map preview or contact card.
  • Force touch on a word brings up its definition.

They also said: “On the new iPhone, Force Touch gestures reportedly function in one of three ways: no additional user interface as with the subtle integration on the new MacBooks, a user interface that appears surrounding the finger where the Force Touch gesture is conducted, or a shortcut list toward the bottom of the display akin to a typical options list across iOS.”

Haptic feedback given to users is described as “nice” and “consistent” across the system.

These implementations make sense for a device like the iPhone and can increase the effectiveness in using the iOS. This technology can make the iPhone become the only smartphone at this moment, which combines the Force Touch and Multitouch technology.

Rear Case

Rare case is one of the important components of the iPhone, and seems Apple will choose the same material of Apple Watch, aluminum series 7000. This material is 60% stronger and lighter. The Unbox Therapy has posted on YouTube about the iPhone 6s rear case and compares it with the iPhone 6. He found that the iPhone 6s rare case is 1.14 mm thicker than iPhone 6, but it’s 27 g lighter. Display LCD Panel

As the rumors said that iPhone 6s will adopt the Force Touch technology, it is strengthened with the leak of iPhone 6s display. MacManiack posted a video that shows the comparison between iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 displays. There’s a new connector on the top left, and seems that it’s connected with the Force Touch component. Its flex cables even a bit different, it has vertical and horizontal cables. The video also shows that the cable Touch ID is straight with the display, while iPhone 6 has a bent one.
